13th and 14th April 2026 at the
Venue: Auditorium, The Providence Hotel, 12A Oba Akinjobi Way, G.R.A, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria
- The IPSO/TOSCA Pre-Conference Workshop, taking place during the SIOP Africa Congress, is a two-day intensive course. Organized by International Society of Pediatric Surgical Oncology (IPSO) in collaboration with Teaching Oncology Surgery for Children in Africa (TOSCA), the workshop is designed to equip pediatric surgery fellows and early-career surgeons with a practical and adaptable framework for pediatric surgical oncology, emphasizing the surgeon’s central role in the treatment of childhood cancer.
- Through focused didactic sessions and interactive case-based discussions, participants will review the surgical management of common pediatric solid tumors and apply core oncology principles to tumor board participation, operative planning, and intraoperative decision-making. The course addresses practice across both high-resource and resource-variable environments, including settings where chemotherapy, radiotherapy, advanced imaging, or reliable central venous access may be limited.
- Beyond clinical skills, the program emphasizes oncology-focused diagnostic reasoning, imaging interpretation, and structured operative strategy. Participants will strengthen their ability to critically evaluate imaging, plan complex resections, and troubleshoot challenging cases. A key pillar of the workshop is longitudinal mentorship, connecting participants with experienced pediatric surgical oncologists for ongoing case consultation, imaging review, research collaboration, and career development in pediatric surgical oncology.
